Why Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will not disappoint.

How many of you have marked down the following date on your calendar, 17-11-2017?

Thats right! We are less than three weeks away from the release of Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.  With the Internet filled with an abundance of pre-release pictures and new videos being uploaded by the Pokémon Youtube page regularly, a simple Google search on the game will net you whatever you need to know about the game.

With news that Pokémon USUM (Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon) being the last Pokémon games being released on the 3DS system, expectations are high.

However, it does not change the fact that sequels in the series are not too well received by players. Sister games tend to have lesser sales as compared to the original games.

Irregardless of the data, I am looking forward to the game as the developers have stated that the games will have double the game-play length as compared to Sun and Moon.

Is Team Rocket back? Will there be more mega evolutions? How about more Z-Moves? How about going on a journey in another region?

At the rate things are shaping up, Pokémon USUM is looking to cement itself as the best Pokémon game to be released on the 3DS system.

Enough is never enough, and there are still some things that I hope will be included in the games as well. Here’s a list of features that I hope the game will feature:

1. PSS (Player Search System)

Bringing connectivity to the next level, that is what the PSS did to Pokémon that has not been done before the release of Pokémon X/Y.

The PSS enabled players to connect to the internet while playing the game. This neat feature allowed players to play with anyone around the world who is connected to the internet.

You can not only trade and battle with the PSS, you can too access Wonder Trade at your own convenience!

However, the PSS was discontinued in Pokémon Sun / Moon and I do hope that they do bring this back – the Festival Plaza is horrendous.

2. Shorter tutorials

It is a sin to have your tutorial last two hours, let alone one hour. That is what players who have played Pokémon Sun / Moon had to endure a year ago.

Understandably so, the game is now designed for younger players but there isn’t a need for the tutorial to be that long.

The only two things that new players need to know are, how to catch a Pokémon and how to get out of the house.

If they are still insistent on having extremely long tutorials, then I would like to see the return of the next feature.

3.  Key system – Easy Mode and Challenge Mode

Pokémon Black 2 /White 2 introduced a whole new dynamic to the Pokémon game by having two new modes, the easy mode and challenge mode.

The two new modes are unlocked throughout the course of Black 2 and White 2. Both modes will make the game easier and harder by altering the artificial intelligence and Pokémon levels of the game’s NPC respectively.

The challenge mode isn’t that big of a leap in terms of difficulty if you are an experienced player but it was definitely a step in the right direction for Pokémon games to break out of its status quo, until they decided to discontinue it.

I would definitely like to see the return of the challenge mode – higher level Pokémon means more experience points.

4. More distinct area differences

In the fifth gen of Pokémon , they introduced areas with different designs in their games. In Black, a particular area was known as Black City and in White, it was known as White Forest.

Before the introduction of this feature, people would often compare the version exclusives and Legendary Pokémon that they would be able to catch, depending on which version they bought.

I would like to see this feature being implemented again in future Pokémon games as it offers a different vibe to the game, as though the two versions are two distinctive standalone games in parallel universes.

5. Key characters returning for post-game events

It’s always a pleasant surprise to see characters from previous generations making a return in Pokémon games.

Unfortunately, these characters who have made a return are more or less nonexistent to the prevailing plot of the game itself.

The return of Red and Blue in Sun / Moon had people talking! However, the only thing they did was battle you at the Battle Tree, talk about uneventful.

It’s time for Pokémon to introduce some new refreshing post-game events with these characters.

And lastly, the Game Corner.

I bet most of you have forgotten that the Game Corner has been removed from Pokémon games since Pokemon Black / White.

Due to some legality issues, it is nigh impossible that the Game Corner will be returning in future Pokémon games but the fond memories I had with this feature made it all worthwhile.

It is through the Game Corner that I got my first Porygon back in Pokémon Gold. Talk about a throwback.

The above are the things that I hope will be featured in Pokémon USUM. However, we all know that these are nothing more than wishful thinking.

It doesn’t hurt to have a little faith that these features will be added in future Pokémon games.

Let me know in the comment section what you want to see in Pokémon USUM and do you remember to share this article with your friends if you like it.

Thank you.
